FAMILY MATTERS!
An invitation for young people aged 18 to 30 to participate in the European Youth Weekend organized by the Confederation of Family Associations in the Carpathian Basin Budapest, Hungary, 12-14 February 2016
WHAT IS IT ABOUT?
The Confederation of Family Associations in the Carpathian Basin is preparing its annual conference and Family Day on 13 February 2016 in the Hungarian Parliament.
This year, the organizers of the event are planning to give the event a global European perspective, reaching beyond the borders of the Carpathian Basin, and specially addressing the youth of Europe.
The European Youth Weekend starts on Friday 12 February, and lasts until Sunday 14 February early afternoon. The highlight of the weekend will be the event in the Parliament on Saturday, but the three days include other exciting programmes as well.
On the gathering, there will be several international speakers, who will give insight into tendencies and challenges regarding families in some countries of Europe. This will be followed by an English-speaking roundtable discussion with the participation of the invited youth guests.
The aim of this special event is to let the youth of Europe speak out about their thoughts and motifs regarding family and their future. It is very important for us to let the youth express how they would like to accomplish their dreams concerning their own family lives, as well as to discuss what family policies are needed on the political side, and in what ways pro-family civil organizations can promote these issues in their opinion.
The roundtable discussion will follow the steps of the conference entitled Future of the families, Families of the Future held in the European Parliament in Brussels in September 2015. It is at the same time the forerunner of an upcoming conference to be organized with the participation of the youth in Brussels, scheduled for June 2016.
Half of the participants of the European Youth Weekend will come from organizations within the Carpathian Basin, whereas the other half will be invited from other European countries.
Throughout the weekend, you will be involved in a variety of exciting cultural and social events. You will have a great opportunity to mingle with and to get to know other European people of your age. You will be able to have wonderful discussions, exchanging ideas and thoughts, gaining insight into what is going on in Europe regarding this topic. And last but not least, you can experience the atmosphere of the vibrant and historical city of beautiful Budapest.
